Es geht los! Auch wenn wir wissen, dass die Ralley fast 3 Wochen dauert, wird am Start doch um die beste Platzierung gekämpft. Das ist für fast alle von uns die erste Regatta - und der Puls steigt.
Wir kommen wirklich gut weg und haben gleich am Start mal eine Duftmarke gesetzt... Naja, wie gesagt, die ersten Stunden von 3 Wochen. Wie erwartet, sind mal wieder einige Crewmitglieder seekrank - ich auch. Ob ich je darüber hinweg komme, dass mir am Anfang eines Törns schlecht wird? Trotzdem muss gekocht werden und meine Wache nimmt mir auch keiner ab. Rainer hat ein gutes Wachsystem eingeführt: Abends ab 20.00 Uhr 3 x 4 Stunden (immer eine Crew und ein Gast), die Crew rolliert vorwärts (20.00 - 00.00, 00.00 - 04.00 und 04.00 - 08.00) und die Gäste rückwärts, auf diese Weise ist man jede Nacht mit jemand anderem auf Wache.
Tagsüber gibt es nur 2 Wachen: 08.00 - 14.00 und 14.00 - 20.00 Uhr, hier ist dann jeweils nur 1 Person der Crew auf Wache. Auf diese Weise hat jeder alle paar Tage einen Tag frei. Das macht sich im Laufe der Zeit positiv bemerkbar.
It's starting! Even though we know that the rally lasts almost 3 weeks, there is still a fight for the best position at the start. This is the first regatta for almost all of us - and our pulse is rising.
We're getting off really well and have made a mark right from the start... Well, as I said, the first few hours of 3 weeks. As expected, some crew members are seasick again - me too. Will I ever get over feeling sick at the beginning of a trip? Nevertheless, cooking has to be done and no one can take my watch. Rainer has introduced a good watch system: In the evening from 8 p.m. 3 x 4 hours (always one crew and one guest), the crew rolls forward (8 p.m. - 12 a.m., 12 a.m. - 4 a.m. and 4 a.m. - 8 a.m.) and the guests roll backwards, this way you share your watch with someone different every night.
There are only 2 watches during the day: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., so only 1 member of the crew is on watch at a time. This way everyone has a day off every few days. This has a positive impact over time.
