Elba

The day is drawing to a close and we should arrive in Porto Azzuro in 2-3 hours. Unfortunately today was not a sailing day, the forecast wind was not there, but after last night I don't think anyone is really upset about that. As we couldn't get to Porto Vecchio yesterday, we anchored in the bay of Cala Rossa. We would have liked to have deployed a second anchor in the forecast strong westerly wind - but unfortunately there was no "real" anchor, just a dinghy holder.... Well, without it then. It was all a bit choppy, but as we had a westerly wind and the bay was sheltered to the west, at least we didn't have any waves. But at around 8 p.m., things suddenly took off: there were two cats behind us and one of them seemed to be having problems with the anchor, the wind kept picking up - at its peak we saw 53 (!) knots - and that's when you start to get a bit nervous when the boats behind you aren't anchored properly. But even though it got a bit tense, apparently the crew on one cat had all disembarked and couldn't get back in the weather, everything turned out well.

We raised anchor at 05.00 this morning and now we're almost there - we're all looking forward to a quiet night in the harbor....
