Wahnsinn, auch die letzte Etappe der Atlantik-Überquerung von West nach Ost hat die FRIENDSHIP super gemeistert! Wir sind alle drei stolz, diese aufregende Etappe heil hinter uns gebracht zu haben.
In fünf kleineren Tagestörns - Lagos nach Faro, Faro nach Huelva, Huelva nach Cadiz, Cadiz nach Tarifa und Tarifa nach La Linea - haben wir uns durch das Orca Gebiet getastet. Wir hatten Glück und sind keinen Orcas begegnet, aber am Funkgerät konnten wir mithören, wie der ein oder andere dann doch seine Begegnung hatte. Nicht alle sind so dramatisch verlaufen, wie die der CHAMPAGNE vor Barbate, aber der Schreck sitzt dann doch tief, auch bei uns, wenn man hört, dass da, wo man vor einer oder zwei Stunden durch gefahren ist, jetzt Orcas ihr Unwesen treiben. So weit ist das ja dann meistens auch nicht, vielleicht 10 - 12 Seemeilen, das schwimmt so ein Orca auf der rechten Flosse ab...
Aber wir sind gut durchgekommen und ankern jetzt erstmal für 1 - 2 Nächte vor dem Hafen von La Linea.

Amazing, the FRIENDSHIP has also mastered the last leg of the Atlantic crossing from west to east! All three of us are proud to have completed this exciting stage in one piece.
In five smaller day trips - Lagos to Faro, Faro to Huelva, Huelva to Cadiz, Cadiz to Tarifa and Tarifa to La Linea - we felt our way through the Orca area. We were lucky and didn't encounter any orcas, but we could hear on the radio how one or the other had their encounter. Not all of them were dramatic, like those of the CHAMPAGNE off Barbate, but the shock is deep, even for us, when we hear that there, where we passed through one or two hours ago, orcas are now up to mischief. It's usually not that far, maybe 10 - 12 nautical miles, which is what an orca swims on its right flipper...
But we made it through all right and are now anchoring for 1 - 2 nights in front of the harbour of La Linea.
