Wir sind im schönen Vathi auf Ithaka. Man mag kaum glauben, wie die Zeit vergeht, aber wir haben schon die Hälfte unseres Familientörns hinter uns.
Wir sind wie geplant am Samstag kurz nach der Ankunft von Rainers Eltern losgefahren. Das erste Stück Richtung Lefkas konnten wir richtig gut segeln, allerdings mussten wir uns dann mit dem Segel bergen ein wenig beeilen, um die Brückenöffnung nicht zu verpassen. Dann durch den Kanal von Lefkas nach Meganisi - leider ohne Segeln, da hier dann mal wieder der Wind "alle" war. Abends waren wir in der Taverna Spilia essen. Am nächsten Morgen sind Rainers Eltern und ich dann ins Dorf Spartochori gelaufen. Da geht es ganz schön den Berg hoch, aber der Ausblick lohnt sich!
Unser nächstes Ziel wäre Frikes auf Ithaka gewesen, aber da hat uns der Wind (!) einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht: Erst konnten wir richtig toll segeln, dann hatten wir plötzlich mal wieder ein selbstbergendes Segel (Querriss im Bereich der oberen Segellatte) und dann gab es Hafenkino vom Feinsten! Eigentlich soll man in Frikes rückwärts mit Anker anlegen, leider halten sich viele Segler nicht daran, und da es in Frikes keinen Hafenmeister gibt, wird dies auch nicht kontrolliert, d.h., wenn die Boote sich längsseits legen, gibt es weniger Platz im ohnehin schon kleinen Hafen. So auch diesmal: 3 Boote liegen bereits längsseits, es ist ziemlich windig und aus unerfindlichen Gründen stehen 2 Kats in der Hafeneinfahrt während ein anderer Segler gerade versucht anzulegen und ein weiterer Segler uns überholt und ebenfalls in den Hafen fährt. Jetzt passiert, was in solchen Fällen gerne passiert: das Anlegemanöver misslingt, der Segler fährt unkontrolliert rückwärts aus der Lücke, der Überholer muss sein Manöver auch abbrechen und treibt oder fährt (man weiß es nicht so genau) auf die Kats zu. Chaos pur! Wir haben das Geschehen aus sicherer Entfernung eine Weile verfolgt, sind dann aber zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass selbst wenn jetzt alle irgendwie dort anlegen ohne größere Schäden zu verursachen, der Hafen eher zu voll sein wird. Daher haben wir uns entschlossen, Richtung Kioni weiterzufahren und dort unser Glück zu versuchen. Aber auch Kioni war schon rappelvoll. Daher sind wir dann nach Vathi gefahren, wo wir dann in der Bucht geankert haben.
Da es am ersten Abend immer noch ziemlich windig und auch wellig in der Bucht war, haben wir nach dem Landausflug beschlossen, an Bord zu essen und erst am nächsten Tag wieder an Land zu gehen. Da Vathi sowieso auf unserem Törnplan stand, nur einen Tag später, haben wir so eben einen Tag mehr, um den Ort zu erkunden.
Our next destination would have been Frikes on Ithaca, but there the wind (!) put a spoke in our wheel: First we could sail really great, then we suddenly had a self-recovering sail (transverse crack in the area of the upper sail batten) and then there was harbor cinema at its best! Actually, one should moor in Frikes backwards with anchor, unfortunately many sailors do not keep to it, and since there is no harbor master in Frikes, this is also not controlled, i.e., if the boats lie alongside, there is less place in the already small port. So also this time: 3 boats already lie alongside, it is quite windy and for inexplicable reasons 2 Kats stand in the harbor entrance while another sailor just tries to dock and another sailor overtakes us and also drives into the port. Now happens what happens in such cases: the mooring maneuver fails, the sailor drives uncontrolled backwards out of the gap, the overtaker must also break off his maneuver and drifts or drives (one does not know it so exactly) towards the Kats. Pure chaos! We have followed the action from a safe distance for a while, but then came to the conclusion that even if now all somehow moor there without causing major damage, the port will be rather too crowded.
We are in beautiful Vathi on Ithaca. It's hard to believe how time flies, but we are already halfway through our family cruise.
We left as planned on Saturday shortly after the arrival of Rainer's parents. The first part towards Lefkas we were able to sail really well, but then we had to hurry a bit with the sail retrieval in order not to miss the bridge opening. Then through the channel of Lefkas to Meganisi - unfortunately without sailing, because here again the wind was "all". In the evening we had dinner at Taverna Spilia. The next morning Rainer's parents and I walked to the village of Spartochori. There it goes quite up the mountain, but the view is worth Therefore, we decided to continue towards Kioni and try our luck there. But also Kioni was already full to bursting. Therefore we drove to Vathi, where we anchored in the bay.
Since it was still quite windy and also wavy in the bay on the first evening, we decided after the shore excursion to eat on board and only go ashore again the next day. Since Vathi was on our itinerary anyway, just one day later, we have just one more day to explore the place.
